In my introduction, I said that we had gone reptile hunting and had come home with a "brown rat snake'. She was brown and tan block banded with alternating pattern, coming to flat rather than pointed terminus at the base. Her head was typical rat snake shape, and she was about ten inches long, so we thought juvenile. Went searching for her on the MN DNR info website. She tamed easily after first meeting, when she tagged me at least a dozen times.
Found her on said website, she was a Northern Water Snake. No facilities to keep her, and she would grow to four feet so limited room, also. We released her the next morning. I have pictures and memories.
